Sage Version 1.9

One of the greatest thrills in creating a Cyber Defense Planning and Optimization strategy for CISOs is the opportunity to enhance its functionality based on input from our valued customers. We’ve just released SAGE Version 1.9, featuring many enhancements and new functionalities tailored to meet the specific needs of our CISO community of users, that  improve functionality and shorten the time it takes to realize benefits from the platform.

This update includes a host of new features that make it easier to import and manipulate data, and introduces tools designed to boost efficiency and enhance team collaboration.

NIST CSF 2.0 Framework Support

NIST released its cybersecurity framework CSF 2.0 earlier this year, marking its first major update in 10 years. This revised framework is targeted to help organizations of all sizes and in all sectors increase their cybersecurity posture. SAGE now includes NIST 2.0 controls as one of its core frameworks, in addition to ISO 27001, PCI DSS, GDPR, and earlier versions of NIST.

NIST 2.0 controls in SAGE

Key Benefits for CISOs:

  • Enhanced Compliance: Ensure the organization adheres to the latest NIST standards, improving overall security and compliance.
  • Stay Up-to-Date: NIST CSF 2.0 provides the latest guidance from the U.S. government for managing and reducing cybersecurity risks. Adhering to it demonstrates an organization’s commitment to protecting user data and following best practices.

Faster Data Onboarding and Manipulation

One of the reasons CISOs tell us they are eager to adopt the SAGE platform is its ability to replace the cumbersome spreadsheets they currently use for managing their Cyber Defense Plan. However, before switching, existing data needs to be imported from Excel into SAGE.

SAGE 1.9 facilitates this transition with a streamlined Excel import feature, allowing quick data integration directly into the platform. Additionally, SAGE 1.9 offers bulk editing capabilities to efficiently update, manage, or manipulate data as needed.

Another way SAGE is cutting down on manual work for CISOs is a new automatic calculation of the “Risk” level for new findings based on the impact and probability. Previously, this field had to be calculated manually. The enhancement ensures accurate and consistent results without manual errors.

Key Benefits for CISOs:

  • Seamless Data Migration: Transition from outdated spreadsheets to SAGE faster, without losing critical data or having to re-enter it manually.
  • Enhanced Efficiency: Quickly import and map existing Excel data, saving time and reducing manual entry errors.
  • Streamlined Data Management: Utilize bulk editing capabilities to manage large volumes of data efficiently.

Better Collaboration with Team Members and Board Members

No CISO does their job in isolation. They rely on a team of cybersecurity experts to execute and maintain the cybersecurity plan, and a group of business stakeholders, including the CEO and Board of Directors. SAGE 1.9 improves collaboration and interactions with both groups through new and enhanced features.

A main element of SAGE’s ongoing mission is to help bridge the gap between the CISO and the Board of Directors. In response to a request from CISOs, SAGE 1.9 introduces “CDP to Business Mapping.” These new visual tools make it easier for the CISO to demonstrate exactly how the CDP (Cyber Defense Plan) impacts both the technical and business aspects of an organization, and how they align.

CISOs also requested the ability to add a new user type to the SAGE platform who would have a higher level of access but would still allow the CISO to maintain control of CDP, without worrying about inexperienced users entering incorrect information. Previously, the user type “Collaborators” could only update task statuses, With the new user type “Advanced Collaborators”, select team members can now edit and create tasks, risks, findings, and assets.

Key Benefits for CISOs:

  • Streamlined Interaction: “CDP to Business Mapping” visually demonstrates the connection between cybersecurity initiatives and business goals, improving communication with Board Members and executives.
  • Increased Efficiency: A new user type allows team members to edit and create key elements like tasks and risks, boosting productivity and reducing delays while maintaining CISO control over the Cyber Defense Plan.
